The Groom GRL050 is a non-hold-open transom closer for commercial aluminium and timber doors up to 1100mm wide and 110kg in weight. The closer mechanism is housed entirely within the door's top rail — no visible hardware on the door face — making it the standard specification for glazed entrances, shopfronts, and any installation where a surface-mounted overhead closer would be unsuitable aesthetically.

The GRL050 has been independently tested to BS EN 1154. Three power sizes (EN2, EN3, EN4) cover the full range of standard commercial door sizes. Both closing speed and latching speed are independently adjustable, and a fixed backcheck prevents the door from slamming when opened suddenly.

Selecting the Right Power Size and Spindle

Choose the power size based on door width. EN3 is the most common specification for standard commercial doors. Extended spindle variants (5mm and 8mm) are available where the door profile requires additional spindle length. If unsure, measure from the top of the spindle seat to the surface of the top rail.
