ABLOY EL402 F/UN Electric Lock

Product Information

The Abloy EL402 F/UN is a high-security electric lock for narrow-stile aluminium and steel commercial doors, operating in fail unlocked (fail safe) mode — when power is cut the lock releases, allowing free egress. The EL402 combines a motorised deadbolt with a spring-loaded trigger bolt, providing positive deadlocking when energised and immediate release on power loss or activation signal. Designed for installations where security, reliability, and fail-safe operation are all critical requirements.

Abloy is internationally recognised for the highest standards of lock security and reliability. The EL402 is used in airports, government buildings, healthcare facilities, and any commercial application where the access control specification demands a product beyond standard electric strike performance.

Fail Unlocked vs Fail Locked — Which Do I Need?

Fail unlocked (F/UN — this product) — the lock releases when power is cut. Required on any door on a fire escape route or accessible to the general public. In a fire or power failure, the door must always be openable — fail unlocked ensures this.

Fail locked — the lock remains locked when power is cut. For secure areas where the door must remain locked during a power failure. Not suitable for fire escape routes.
