Electromagnetic hold-open magnets allow doors to be held safely in an open position and released automatically when the fire alarm activates. Unlike wedges or manual hold-open hooks — which are illegal on fire doors — electromagnetic hold-open devices are connected to the fire alarm panel and release the door automatically in the event of a fire.
