dormakaba RTS87 Non-Hold Open Transom Closer

The dormakaba RTS 87 is a frame-concealed transom closer for single and double action doors where floor springs cannot be used — typically on timber or aluminium doors where the floor construction does not permit a floor spring installation. The closer is housed entirely within the door frame rather than the door leaf, making it particularly suitable for applications with reduced ligature requirements such as mental health facilities, secure units, and similar environments where surface-mounted hardware must be minimised.

CERTIFIRE approved (CF127) and tested to BS EN 1154 — suitable for fire-rated doors. Meets BS 8300 accessibility requirements. Available in aluminium frame and timber frame variants.

RTS 87 vs RTS 85 — Which Do I Need?

RTS 85 — installed within the door leaf and transom, for aluminium doors up to 1250mm wide.

RTS 87 — installed within the door frame, for aluminium or timber frames where the RTS 85 door-leaf preparation is not possible, or where reduced ligature is a specific requirement.
