Strand Panic Hardware

Product Information

The Strand Hardware anti-panic and emergency exit hardware range is designed and assembled in the UK to provide reliable, compliant escape route protection across commercial, educational, and public sector buildings. The range covers both panic exit hardware (BS EN 1125, for escape routes accessible to the general public) and emergency exit hardware (BS EN 179, for staff-only escape routes), giving specifiers and installers a single source for all panic hardware requirements on a project.

Three devices are available — the PH350 single-point panic latch, the PH355 three-point panic bolt with vertical latches, and the PH357 three-point panic bolt with horizontal latches — covering single-leaf doors and the active and inactive leaves of double-door sets.

PH350 — Single Point Panic Latch

For single-leaf doors or the active leaf of a pair of rebated doors. Single-point locking via a spring latch at the centre of the crossarm. Suits doors up to 1050mm wide. Certified to BS EN 1125. Comprises mechanism, idler, and crossarm. Supplied with strikers for both timber and metal doors.

PH355 — Three Point Panic Bolt (Vertical Latches)

For single-leaf doors, the inactive leaf of a pair of rebated doors, or both leaves of a pair of straight-edged double doors. Three-point locking with concealed connecting rods and vertical pullman latches at the top and bottom. The centre mechanism can be blanked off with the supplied plate to convert to a two-point device for double-door applications. Suits doors up to 1050mm wide. Certified to BS EN 1125.

PH357 — Three Point Panic Bolt (Horizontal Latches)

As per the PH355 but with horizontal latches at top and bottom rather than vertical — for specific door profiles or frame configurations where horizontal engagement is required.

EN 1125 vs EN 179 — Which Standard Do I Need?

BS EN 1125 — panic exit hardware — required on any escape route door that may be used by the general public, who may be unfamiliar with the door. A single push of the crossbar must release the door with no other operation required.

BS EN 179 — emergency exit hardware — acceptable on staff-only escape route doors where all users can be expected to be familiar with the opening method. Typically a lever handle or push pad rather than a full crossbar.
