Pyroplex Intumescent Strips

Pyroplex intumescent strips for timber fire doors — the UK's most widely fitted brand of intumescent fire seal. When exposed to heat, the intumescent material expands rapidly to seal the gap between the door leaf and frame, preventing the spread of fire and smoke through the door assembly. Available in plain fire-only and combined intumescent and smoke seal variants, in 30 and 60 minute ratings, in white and brown to match the door finish.

Each strip is supplied as a single 2100mm length — one length covers one side of a standard door. A full door set (three sides — top and both verticals) requires three lengths. Strips are self-adhesive and press into a pre-routed groove in the door leaf or frame.

Selecting the Right Strip

• 10 x 4mm — for rebates up to 4mm. Suits most standard timber fire doors.
• 15 x 4mm — for slightly wider rebates.
• 20 x 4mm — for 60 minute fire doors requiring a wider intumescent element.

Plain Intumescent vs Intumescent & Smoke

Plain intumescent — fire protection only. Suitable for FD30 and FD60 doors where smoke sealing is not required.

Intumescent & smoke — combines fire protection with a smoke seal blade. Required on FD30S and FD60S rated doors. The more commonly specified option on new installations and refurbishments.

30 vs 60 Minute Rating

FD30 doors require 30 minute rated strips; FD60 doors require 60 minute rated strips. Check the fire door certification before ordering.
