Axim TC-8800 Series Transom Closer - Hold Open

The Axim TC-8800 Hold Open is a concealed transom closer with a mechanical hold-open function, allowing the door to be held open at a set position and returned to closed manually or when pushed beyond the hold-open angle. The closer is housed entirely within the door leaf and transom, leaving no visible external hardware on the door face — the standard specification for commercial entrances, retail, offices, and high-specification glazed door installations.

The hold-open function makes the TC-8800 Hold Open particularly suitable for delivery areas, service entrances, and any door that needs to be held open during periods of high footfall while still providing a reliable self-closing mechanism. Three power sizes — light, medium, and heavy duty — cover door widths up to 1150mm and door weights up to 100kg. A full range of spindle lengths and configuration options is available.

Hold Open vs Non Hold Open — Which Do I Need?

Hold Open — the door can be pushed to a hold-open position and will stay there until released. Use where the door needs to be propped open during busy periods. Note: mechanical hold-open closers are not suitable for fire-rated doors unless connected to a fire alarm release system. For fire doors that need to be held open, an electromagnetic hold-open device connected to the fire alarm is required.
